The District 16 Volunteer Fire – Rescue in Allegany County, Maryland (just outside of Cumberland) placed their new Squad 7 in service during late 2017. It is a 1995 Simon-Duplex with a 2009 Kenco body.
This truck has an interesting history. It started out as a green and white 1995 Simon-Duplex/Saulsbury 2000/600/100 for the Mill Creek FC in Marshallton, Delaware. The Saulsbury squad body was re-chassied by Mill Creek onto a 2008 E-One, and the 1995 Simon-Duplex was sold to the George G. McMurtry VFD in Vandergrift, PA (Westmoreland County). A 2009 Kenco rescue squad body was added to the Simon-Duplex and painted brown/white for Vandergrift. In 2017, the rescue was sold to District 16, and it has been prepped for service by department members and wrapped (as well as the graphics) completed by Felty Custom Graphics.
The new Squad 7 replaced a 1989 International 4900/KME that District 16 received from Funkstown, MD in 2001.
