SERV 5 (Special Emergency Response Vehicle) as photographed in July of 2017 while being prepared for service at Castleton, VA in Rappahannock County. SERV 5 is a 1993 Steward & Stevenson Services M1078 2.5 ton. It was received in 2017 from Ft. Bragg, NC through the VA Forestry Department. In the military, it was a troop carrier and performed other duties as well.
SERV 5 can drive through water up to 48" and has a 125' winch cable, capable of being used on the front and rear of the truck. The plans are to have a HMA wildland skid unit added, a booster reel, 2,000 pound small crane for stokes operations, and a canvass area just behind the cab for EMS, and a snow plow.
